The French have announced their line-up for this year’s annual Motocross of Nations event in the United States next month.
The French Motorcycling Federation is pleased to lift the veil on the French Team that will wear their traditional blue colours during this 75th edition of the MXoN at Red Bud, in Michigan, on September 24 and 25.
The objective is clear: To win back the Chamberlain Trophy on this legendary circuit which saw the French team win its last title in this competition in 2018.
The French Motorcycling Federation shows its full support for its blue-white-red delegation.
Like previous editions, the FFM will make every effort to place its riders in the best possible position and leave Red Bud with plates No.1, No.2 and No.3 for the 2023 edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée, in northern France.
The riders representing France at Red Bud will be: Max Renaux (MXGP), Marvin Musquin (MX2) and Dylan Ferrandis (Open Class).
Renaux is the rider pictured above, in full flight at the MXoN when it was held in The Netherlands in 2019.
France has a proud MXoN history … Team France first won the MXoN when it was staged in Belgium in 2001 (with Yves Demaria, Luigi Seguy and David Vuillemin) and, after a few lean years that followed, they then made it back to the top of the MXoN podium, stunning the world with five outright victories in a row, the three-rider French squad winning the great event in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The Dutch team won the MXoN when it was held at Assen, in The Netherlands, in 2019 and the event then skipped a beat in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to this and many other top-flight sporting contests.
The MXoN was resurrected and held in Italy last season – albeit without participation from many of the regular or traditional powerhouse nations – and it was won on that occasion by the trio from Italy (with that team comprising Antonio Cairoli, Mattia Guadagnini and Alessandro Lupino).
Meanwhile, The Netherlands and New Zealand already named their riders several weeks ago.
The Dutch will be represented by Grand Prix stars Glenn Coldenhoff, Kay De Wolf and Calvin Vlaanderen, while the Kiwis will have West Auckland’s Hamish Harwood, (MXGP), Tauranga’s Brodie Connolly (MX2), making his MXoN debut, and Tauranga’s Josiah Natzke (Open Class) to fly the Silver Fern.
The reserve rider for New Zealand will be Waipukurau’s Rhys Carter.
The last time New Zealand was represented at this “Olympic Games of Motocross” was at Assen, in the Netherlands in 2019 and the Kiwi team that year (Wyatt Chase, Dylan Walsh, Maximus Purvis) finished 19th overall.
