American racer Kyle Chisholm is the 29th King of Bercy.

The 29th Supercross of Bercy in Paris over the weekend was won by Chisholm but only after a monster battle over the three nights with fellow Americans Eli Tomac, Justin Barcia and Jake Weimer.

It’s something of a fairytale too for Chisholm.

Injured this season and without a ride for next campaign, Chisholm came to Bercy just with a pipe in his luggage to bolt on to a Yamaha provided by the promoter.

With one podium each night – Chisholm finished second on Friday, winner on Saturday and third on Sunday – Kyle confirmed his potential and was the most consistent of the American riders.

Barcia and Weimer who both struggled the previous nights dominate this last event, but with a third place behind the Honda Geico and the Monster Kawasaki riders Chisholm secured his overall win.

Tomac was a strong opponent, but a bad start in the last race of the weekend cost him all his chances; coming back fifth of the race, he missed the overall by two points.

Nick Wey lost a podium opportunity with a crash in the last final race, and thanks to his second position tonight Weimer came third overall, followed by Mike Alessi and Cédric Soubeyras.

The Frenchman was the best European rider, as Gregory Aranda had a big crash in a tunnel and suffered a concussion. The Americans were too strong this year in Bercy, and dominate the individual and the team’s classification.
